Join us for a 6-week somatic movement series designed to ease seasonal depression and build connection during the heart of winter. Each Saturday we will explore gentle movement practices, mindfulness techniques, and help you reconnect with your body and shake off that winter funk.

Week 1: Grounded Beginnings - Feb 1
Focus: Building a foundation of safety and connection within your body.
Key Practices:
Grounding exercises (e.g., slow, intentional movements lying down).
Somatic breathing techniques to calm the nervous system.
Gentle body scans to tune into physical sensations.
Closing Reflection: “What does grounding feel like in your body today?”
Week 2: Releasing the Weight of Winter - Feb 8
Focus: Letting go of tension and stress stored in the body.
Key Practices:
Movements that focus on the spine and shoulders (areas where stress often accumulates).
Gentle twists and fluid motions to release tension.
Pairing movement with breath to "exhale" physical and emotional heaviness.
Closing Reflection: “What is one thing you don't need to carry into the next season?”
Week 3: Creating Warmth - Feb 15
Focus: Creating a sense of warmth and vitality from within.
Key Practices:
Fluid, rhythmic movements (e.g., rolling, swaying) to encourage circulation.
Using breath and movement to cultivate a sense of internal warmth.
Movements inspired by water elements to build flow and ease.
Closing Reflection: “How can you carry this feeling of warmth into your week?”
Week 4: Building Resilience - Feb 22
Focus: Strengthening resilience by connecting mind with body. You cannot strengthen what you do not know.
Key Practices:
Boundary exercises to cultivate awareness of personal space and self-support.
Movements focusing on stability and strength.
Optional confidence-boosting challenge poses!
Breathwork exercises for calm and focus.
Closing Reflection: “What is one thing that helps you feel strong and steady?”
Week 5: Finding Lightness - March 1
Focus: Discovering and nurturing moments of lightness and play.
Key Practices:
Playful, exploratory movements to encourage curiosity and joy.
Gentle heart-opening movements to invite lightness.
Visualization paired with movement.
Closing Reflection: “Where can I create margin to be more playful in the coming season?”
Week 6: Looking forward to Spring - March 8
Focus: Closing the series with a sense of renewal and hope.
Key Practices:
Movements symbolizing growth and expansion.
Breath-focused practices to invite a fresh, clear sense of energy and purpose.
Grounding exercises to reflect on the past six weeks and anchor in a sense of accomplishment.
Closing Reflection: “Reflect on the growth you've experienced in the last six weeks. What do you plan to take with you? What do you intend to leave here on the mat?”
Series Waiver: "I understand that yoga and somatic movement involve physical activity that may carry risks, including injury. I am voluntarily participating and assume all responsibility for my health, safety, and well-being. I release Mending with Mindfulness and its instructors from liability for any injuries, damages, or losses incurred during participation.
